Frequently Asked Questions.

How do you take your own photos while traveling?

I have just recently become more confident and comfortable with taking my own photos. I use basic tripod from amazon and the app LensBuddy for everything when I do not have someone with me.

I want to Start a Youtube channel, What do i need?

The most amazing thing about cell phones these days is that you can create, edit, and upload a video all from that tiny device. When starting out, I suggest you using what you already have. I started filming on my Canon Rebel T3i. It didn’t have a flip out viewfinder and would shut off every few minutes when recording, but I made it work.

If you are able to spend a bit more money for a nice, versatile camera, I would suggest the Canon G7X. This was the first camera that I invested in and it is perfect for everything especially because of its compact size. I still use it very regularly.

I suggest using whatever editing platform that your computer comes with, such as iMovie for Macbooks. This is an easy to learn platform and provides you with the most basic editing capabilities. I used iMovie for 1 year before spending any money on an editing platform and it functioned exactly how I needed it to.

Last but not least, you need confidence. And if you don’t have it, fake it! The scariest thing about creating content, is when it’s time to put yourself out there and post it. Block out the noise and judgement and just enjoy this new creative journey that you are going on. I’m rooting for you!

How did you get started on social media?

I’ve always loved posting photos on instagram and creating videos of exciting events in life. For years, I’ve posted to Instagram showcasing the typical girl feed; photos with friends, throwbacks, and the occasional overly edited sunset pic. My photography style has changed drastically over the years, from Instagram and VSCO filters, using and creating presets, to now, creating content free of edits and filters. Whatever your style is, commit to it unapologetically. If thats fun doodles on your photos, moody photos, or bright and happy photos, make that your thing. In an effort to remain relevant on ever changing social media platforms, creators often forget what makes them special and unique. Never lose that.

I became much more drawn to creating intentional content when I studied abroad in Newcastle, Australia. That time in my life was when I grew my love for travel photography and videography. Although I never created videos of my travels while abroad, I was constantly recording and capturing the beautiful scenery. One of my biggest regrets of my life so far, is not creating content to showcase those 6 months of my life. If I had any word of advice for an aspiring content creator it would be this; JUST DO IT. Create the video, post the photo, go on that trip and document it all. You will thank yourself time and time again.
