the perfect weekend in the french riviera - south of france travel guide

After a few hectic and action packed days in Paris, it was time to unwind in the South of France, specifically, Nice. While we only had two days in the beautiful costal town, we made the most of it all. If you have a quick trip planned to the South of France, this is the perfect guide for you!

DAY 1: Arrive in Nice, relaxing at the beach, dinner on the town

MORNING

Once you’re in France, and Europe in general, air travel between cities is fairly cheep and easy. We booked a $30 early morning flight from Paris to Nice to maximize our time in the beautiful city.

Nice is SO different from Paris. There are palm trees, bright blue water, and mountains for as far as you can see. The streets are lined with colorful buildings and tons of people. It had much more of a neighborhood, tight knit community feel, which I didn’t feel in Paris. Such a refreshing change of pace!

We dropped off our stuff at our Airbnb and made our way to the beach to lay and soak up some sun.

Breakfast at Pain & Cie.

AFTERNOON

We slept on the beach until about 2 pm - Paris really took it out of us. We went to Côte d’Azur!

EVENING

After returning to the airbnb to freshen up, we headed to Fresh Burrito for dinner.

La Cambuse for dessert and live music.

Day 2: Exploring the French Riviera, Monte Carlo and Cannes

MORNING

We woke up early and made our way to the Nice train station to head to our first destination of the day, Monte Carlo. The train in Nice, or any other town in the South of France, is very efficient and most places that you will want to visit are less than an hour away via train!

AFTERNOON

Lunch at Eat Me By L'Inattendu E in Monaco. We were craving something healthy and filling and their Buddha bowls hit the spot.

We walked around the small town and saw so many beautiful things. There were tons of expensive cars, boats, and all of the high end stores. It was pretty quiet when we went but I’m sure that in the summer, it gets a bit more lively.

We made our way back to the train station to go to Cannes in time for the sunset.

EVENING

Make sure to sit by the window on the train because the views of the towns are beautiful.

We made it to Cannes and strolled down the streets in and out of shops.

The sun was close to setting so we ran into the market to get a pre made wrap and some fruit and took it to the beach for a sunset picnic.

The view of the sun over the mountains was beautiful. I was in shock and it was the perfect ending to our short time in the French Riviera.

That’s a wrap! I had so much fun in the South of France and cant wait to return. I’ve linked my vlog below of our stay in Nice if you need more content. 😊
